Monaco’s Ligue 1 left-back Barreca is reportedly heading to the Premier League today with Newcastle United set to sign him.

Newcastle United’s season has been transformed in just a few hours.
This time yesterday, The Magpies had failed to sign a single player all month with the future of manager Rafa Benitez becoming increasingly unclear.
But Wednesday kicked off with the news that Miguel Almiron was jetting in from Atlanta United, the Paraguayan set to finally replace Michael Owen as the club’s record signing (BBC). The Newcastle fans have also been buoyed by a shock win against Premier League champions Manchester City at St James’ Park.
And it is understood that Almiron will not be the only new face on Tyneside today.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Monaco left-back Antonio Barreca is on his way to the North East today to undergo a medical and join up with the rest of the Newcastle squad.
And, should the 23-year-old impress on loan under Benitez from now until May, the report claims that they will have the option of signing him for a potential bargain fee of £8 million.
The former Italy U21 international Barreca only joined Monaco from Torino last summer and is highly regarded in his homeland.
