According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are interested in luring Arsenal striker to St James’ Park.

It’s claimed that Newcastle are looking into the possibility of signing a young striker on loan to bolster Steve Bruce’s attacking options.

Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster is one player the Magpies have asked about, whilst Arsenal talent Nketiah would be a target if they choose to loan him out.

Nketiah, 21, spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds United, scoring three goals in 17 league games but starting just two of them.

The striker returned to Arsenal in January, and Mikel Arteta gave him first-team chances, scoring twice in 13 appearances.

Nketiah, who scored a hat-trick for England’s Under-21’s against Kosovo on Friday, may well receive similar chances this coming season, especially with Arteta usually using Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left flank.

Alexandre Lacazette’s future is a little unclear, so it’s hard to see Arsenal loaning Nketiah out any time soon.

Still, if the Gunners do want Nketiah to go out and play Premier League football elsewhere next season, then Newcastle would seemingly offer themselves as a potential home.

One thing to note here is that Newcastle are pursuing Arsenal defender Rob Holding on loan; if that deal comes off, then the Magpies can’t loan in Nketiah due to Premier League rules preventing clubs from signing two loan players from the same club.
