Newcastle United are now interested in signing Luka Jovic from Real Madrid and weighing up making a move for the Serbian front-man, according to the Shields Gazette.
Newcastle’s scouting team are said to be considering a move for Jovic, who could be the man to solve their striking issues next season.
Jovic has had a difficult campaign at Madrid, but he has previously proven to be a lethal finisher when with Benfica.
The 22-year-old would surely be an upgrade on Newcastle’s current strike options, with Joelinton, Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle all struggling for goals this season.
Newcastle are thought to be keen on making a loan move for the hitman, as affording to buy him before their takeover has gone through could be problematic.
Madrid paid £60 million for Jovic (Shields Gazette), and would surely not want to take too much of a hit on that figure, after just one season if they were to sell him.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has actually always spoken positively about Jovic’s future and it may be that a move to Newcastle could get his confidence up again.
On his day Jovic is a real threat, and he can even count Lionel Messi among his admirers.
“[He is] a magical player who makes the impossible possible,” the Barcelona playmaker said to Sport Bible about the forward.
