Newcastle are considering making a January bid for Leonardo Koutris after sending scouts to have a look at the left-back, according to a report from the Sunday People (02/12; page 47).

Koutris currently plays for Olympiacos having joined the club during the 2017 summer window. And the 23-year-old was recently rewarded for his impressive form by being handed his international debut.

The Brazil-born full-back appeared in Greece’s Nations League clash with Finland in November. And it appears that his form has caught Newcastle’s eye ahead of next month’s window.

The Sunday People (02/12; page 47) reports that the Magpies scouted Koutris. And after he made a good impression on the Premier League side’s representatives, Rafa Benitez is now looking at a January bid for the youngster.

Paul Dummett has been Newcastle’s first-choice left-back for most of the campaign. But the Wales international’s recent injury has left Benitez with a problem.

Javier Manquillo endured a fairly miserable time against West Ham at the weekend, so perhaps that performance may leave Newcastle even more determined to make a move for Koutris when the window opens.
