Newcastle United reportedly have several Premier League sides, including Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, chasing Jamaal Lascelles.

The London Evening Standard reports that Spurs are bracing themselves for Toby Alderweireld’s potential departure, and Lascelles is one of the players that Mauricio Pochettino has his eye on currently.

Lascelles enjoyed a superb campaign this past year. The centre-back led Newcastle to a top-half finish in their first season back in the Premier League despite many expecting Rafa Benitez’s men to seriously struggle to stay up.
The London Evening Standard adds that the Magpies’ desire to hold onto Lascelles may fade slightly should a tempting offer come in and Benitez not initially have the funds to make major changes to his squad over the summer.

It would be a surprise if the likes of Tottenham and Everton were willing to meet Lascelles’ asking price though. The former Nottingham Forest ace was excellent this past year, but Pochettino and Marco Silva would be forgiven for having their doubts as to whether he could justify such a large price-tag.
Newcastle meanwhile, may perhaps be hoping that the asking price does enough to prevent any interested side making kind of the bid that falls well short of their valuation but is still large enough to turn Lascelles’ head. It appears that only serious money is going to be enough to prise him away from Tyneside during the coming months.
