Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could make a bid for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Newcastle United linked with Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij
The Italian publication has reported that Newcastle could reignite their interest De Vrij when the window opens in January and make a move for the 30-year-old Netherlands international defender.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at former Serie A and UEFA Champions League winners Inter at the end of the season.
Newcastle reportedly wanted to sign De Vrij before they eventually landed Sven Botman in the summer transfer window and could make a move for the Inter star in January.

Potential blockbuster signing for the Magpies
In our view, Stefan de Vrij would be a great signing for Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
Given that the defender is out of contract at Inter next summer, it is unlikely that Inter will – or will be able to – ask for a lot of money in transfer fees.
The Dutchman is one of the best defenders in Serie A and won the Scudetto with Inter in 2020-21.
The £116,000-a-week (SalarySport) is at the top of his game now, and given that he is only 30, he has a fair few years left in him at the highest level.
