Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on Everton’s James McCarthy.
According to Daily Mail, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are weighing up late moves for Everton midfielder James McCarthy ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
McCarthy, 26, followed Roberto Martinez from Wigan Athletic to Everton in the summer of 2013, and was immediately handed a major role in the Toffees side.

The Irish international made more than 100 appearances under Martinez, but since the Spaniard was sacked at the end of last season, he’s found life at Goodison Park much tougher.
McCarthy has started just six Premier League games under Ronald Koeman, and the arrival of Morgan Schneiderlin and emergence of Tom Davies appears to have pushed McCarthy even further down the pecking order.

Whilst many expected McCarthy to leave this month, he has remained at Goodison Park as he has made his return from injury – and two clubs appear to be preparing late moves to sign him before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Daily Mail report that Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are both keen on McCarthy, and are prepared to make moves to sign him in the coming days to lure him away from Merseyside.
It’s stated that Everton have been reluctant to sell this month, but with Schneiderlin snapped up, they will consider all offers coming in for McCarthy before the transfer window slams shot.
Rafael Benitez allegedly wants McCarthy to form a midfield partnership with Jonjo Shelvey, both with a view to winning promotion and for next season, where Newcastle will hope to be in the Premier League again.
