Newcastle United reportedly considered making a move for Fedor Chalov, who could end up in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

According to a report from the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (8/8; 10:24 am), Newcastle took a look at CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov this summer, but decided that his asking price was too high.
Chalov is being heavily linked with a deadline day move to the Premier League, with the Mail reporting that Crystal Palace have made a £23 million bid for the Russia international.
The report notes that the Eagles are set to be disappointed however, with CSKA keen to secure even more money for the 21-year-old, who scored 15 goals last season and has bagged two in four appearances at the start of the new campaign.
And it appears that the Magpies may have anticipated the frustration that Palace are currently enduring. The Daily Mail have reported on their live transfer blog (8/8; 10:24 am) that Steve Bruce’s men did have a look at the youngster, but decided against a pursuit due to his asking price.

Newcastle fans would love to see the club strengthen their striker options before the window closes. Their transfer record was broken to land Joelinton, but the Brazilian only has Yoshinori Muto and Dwight Gayle providing competition.
Chalov’s age and goalscoring record hints that he could be worth a lot more in the coming years if a Premier League club does take a gamble on him this summer, so there may well be a number of Newcastle fans imploring the club to take another look before the window shuts.
