Newcastle United are weighing up a deal for Cameron Ferguson after the young striker was released by League Two promotion-chasers Tranmere Rovers, as reported by The Chronicle.
It’s that time of year again.
With contracts expiring up and down the land, a host of hungry teenagers are being put through their paces as they look to keep their dreams alive.
And when Ferguson was let go by fourth-tier Tranmere recently, the talented centre-forward surely wouldn’t have expected to compete for a contract at one of the Premier League’s best-supported clubs soon after.
According to reports from the north east, Ferguson is on trial at Newcastle.
And he’s made quite an impression too, scoring in a 4-3 victory over Sunderland’s youngsters earlier this week.

Should Ferguson put pen to paper at the Tyneside giants, he’ll follow in the footsteps of his father, legendary Scottish warhead Duncan Ferguson, who was at St James’ Park from 1998 to 2000.
Ferguson Jr would be a forward for the future rather than an immediate addition to Steve Bruce’s first-team ranks, however, with Newcastle also looking at more experienced options in attack.
