Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of bringing the Barcelona youngster to St James’ Park.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Sport, Newcastle are close to securing a season-long loan deal for Barcelona centre-back Marlon Santos, as Rafa Benitez continues his search for another top class central defender.
Newcastle finished last season in an extremely respectable 10th position in the Premier League table, and despite initial struggles in the transfer market, Rafa finally seems to be making some headway.
He has brought in Salomon Rondon from West Brom on loan, as well as the permanent signings of Yoshinori Muto and Faboan Schar.
And the Spaniard now seems intent on bringing another centre-back to St James’ Park.
According to Spanish media outlet Sport, Newcastle are closing in on the loan capture of Barca defender Marlon, and will pay a fee of £1.8 million in order to bring him to Tyenside for the season.

The loan deal does not reportedly include an option to buy at the end of the season for the Magpies, however.
Newcastle will be getting a really top player if they manage to bring Marlon to Tyneside, and he will surely improve their defence tremendously ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
