Benfica are willing to sell Nuno Tavares for a cut-price £6 million with Newcastle United and Burnley hoping to take the Portugal U21 international to the Premier League, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
He may be a youngster with only 17 top-flight appearances under his belt but, even in the early stages of his career, £6 million looks good value.
A few weeks ago, Portuguese publication O Jogo suggested Benfica would demand a far higher fee for the attack-minded Tavares.
And if Benfica really are willing to accept a knock-down fee in the region of £6 million, you can expect the interest to heat up during the next couple of weeks.

A technically gifted left-back who can also play on the wing, a move to Newcastle would see Tavares compete with the likes of Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett and Jamal Lewis for a place in Steve Bruce’s starting XI.
Lewis was supposed to have solved the club’s long-standing left-back problem when he arrived from Norwich City in 2020. But the £15 million benchwarmer has featured in just one of Newcastle’s past ten Premier League games following a series of unconvincing displays.
As a result, Newcastle are back in the market once more for a left-back.
