The Newcastle United boss is being targeted after recently becoming frustrated with life at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez
A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez may be given the opportunity to become the highest paid manager in the world in the near future as the Chinese Super League looks to tempt him away from St James’ Park.
According to the Mirror, Benitez was left frustrated with the Magpies hierarchy recently after the club failed to make any signings to bolster their promotion bid from the Championship during the January transfer window.
And that frustration caught the attention of two sides in China who, according to the Mirror, are prepared to put contracts on the table that would see the Spaniard pocket an eye-watering £600,000 a week should he make the switch.
The Mirror adds that Benitez is also being considered by Arsenal should they need to find a replacement for Arsene Wenger this summer, so it appears that he will certainly have plenty of offers on the table.

While the money from China may well be tempting, the fact that Benitez decided to stay with Newcastle following their relegation would certainly suggest that he feels that he has unfinished business in the Premier League and that he perhaps views the Magpies as the ideal club to take to the next level.
And unless he becomes convinced that the board’s inability to sign anyone in January will not be an anomaly in the future, or Arsenal do come calling, then it will surely be a major surprise to see a manager of his current ability decide to leave behind the project he is currently working on for a pay-day that may still be available to him in the latter years of his career.
