The Mirror have confirmed reports Newcastle United want to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
HLN journalist Kristoff Terreur was among Belgian sources to suggest Newcastle were keen on the forward 24 hours earlier.
The Mirror‘s report claims Newcastle plan to sign Batshuayi on loan and manager Rafa Benitez is confident he could win the race for the international striker’s signature.

Batshuayi only made one Premier League start this past season, with 19 further appearances as a substitute.
It is claimed Newcastle will submit an offer to Chelsea, and former Blues boss Benitez believes they can tempt the Blues by pledging to offer him regular football, and gain more experience in the Premier League.

Allowing Batshuayi to move on loan would be a gamble for Chelsea with Diego Costa likely to leave, although Romelu Lukaku coming into replace him could mean another season on the bench for Batshuayi.
The 23-year-old will want to earn a shot at establishing himself in Belgium’s World Cup squad for next summer, and he will only stand a chance of starting if he can do so for his club.
