Turkish newspaper Hurriyet have claimed that Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues has been placed on the transfer list in order for the Champions League side to adhere to Financial Fairplay rules – and Newcastle United are said to be keen.

The 27-year-old attacker has been linked with a move to St. James’ Park for quite some time, though he has remained at Galatasaray since joining the club from Greek side PAOK in January 2017.

Since moving to Turkey with Gala, the 24-time Cape Verde international has scored 15 goals in 67 outings – as well as adding 14 assists. He helped his side win the 2017-18 SuperLig trophy.

The report claims for Gala to remain in the transfer market for new players, as well as adhering to FFP, they must sell and Rodrigues is at the top of their list of players to throw on the scrapheap.

Gala want to sign Shanghai SIPG star Lei Wu, who boasts 55 caps for China and has scored an impressive 116 goals in 212 games for his current side. But to buy him, they must sell Rodrigues.

Hurriyet state that Newcastle are interested in signing Rodrigues, but The Toon face competition from two of La Liga’s biggest sides in Valencia and Villarreal. The Holland-born ace has three years remaining on his contract.

The report says that Rodrigues will join either Newcastle, Valencia or Villarreal, meaning his future in Turkey seems to be all but over.
