According to L’Equipe and Get French Football News, Newcastle United are keen on Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien once again.
It’s claimed that Nice went into the summer valuing Cyprien at €20million (£18.3million), but then dropped that to €15million (£13.8million) and now to €10million (£9.2million).
Nice are working hard to move Cyprien on this summer, but have still yet to receive a bid at their new price tag as the market seems to be moving slowly.
Bordeaux are in talks to sign Cyprien, whilst Newcastle could make a move if Nice are prepared to accept a tiny fee and a huge sell-on clause.
Cyprien can sign a pre-contract agreement to leave Nice in January, which is why Nice want to recoup even a small fee now rather than lose him for free.
Cyprien, 25, has been an impressive box-to-box midfielder for Nice, bagging 23 goals and 12 assists in 109 games for the club since arriving from Lens in 2016.
Newcastle have been tracking Cyprien for some time, with The Chronicle reporting in March of this year that he was a top midfield target for the Magpies.
Newcastle have already spent on Jamal Lewis and Callum Wilson this summer, meaning that it may take a very low fee to tempt them into spending again – and Cyprien could be that player, given that he could provide real quality in midfield.
