Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has reported on Twitter that Newcastle are working to get a deal done for Leicester attacking midfielder Maddison in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies wanted to sign the playmaker in the January transfer window and remain keen on the 26-year-old.
Newcastle and Leicester are now in talks over Maddison, who is ready to leave the Foxes at the end of the season and was described as “perfect” by talkSPORT pundit and Rangers legend Ally McCoist in March.

The 26-year-old has scored 10 goals and given nine assists in 26 Premier League starts for Leicester this season.
Maddison has scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 28 Premier League starts for the Foxes last season.
