Newcastle United’s takeover saga continues with the Middle Eastern consortium yet to complete all the formalities.
A few doubts were raised in recent weeks about the sale with reports claiming that a deal could fall through.
As Magpies fans keep waiting, other clubs have started making moves for their targets, which could leave Newcastle with half of their wish list gone before they can even work towards securing them.
One such target is Real Valladolid’s Mohammed Salisu. El Desmarque claimed back in April that Newcastle are interested in signing the promising young defender.
The same outlet also claimed that Premier League trio Wolves, Southampton and Watford were all considering moves for Salisu but none of them have moved forward with their reported interest.
However, one club have made their move for the Ghanaian. RMC Sport claim that Rennes have made it their priority to sign Salisu and have tabled a £7.1 million bid.
That offer is likely to be rejected as Valladolid are unwilling to let him leave for a fee below his release clause of £10 million.

Newcastle will miss out if they don’t act quickly
The difference between the offered amount and the asking price is almost negligible in today’s market and there is a good chance that the two sides find an agreement soon.
That would leave the English quartet kicking themselves as Salisu’s value is almost guaranteed to go up by millions soon.
The 21-year-old has had an impressive campaign in La Liga, attracting interest from multiple top sides.
If Newcastle United really are interested in Salisu, they will have to make their move quickly, but the problems surrounding their takeover could cost them a brilliant young player.
