Belgian outlet HLN have claimed that Youri Tielemans is to undergo a medical with Leicester City on Wednesday, which means Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur seem set to miss out.

The same outlet claimed on Tuesday that Newcastle and Spurs were interested in landing the 21-year-old AS Monaco star, who will be allowed to leave the Ligue 1 side this month.

Thierry Henry had used Tielemans regularly and even given the 19-time Belgium international the captain’s armband this season, but the re-appointment of Leonardo Jardim is likely to spell the end of Tielemans at Monaco.

Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the former RSC Anderlecht midfielder, who scored an impressive 18 goals and created 15 more in the 2016-17 campaign before joining Monaco.

But both Newcastle and Spurs are not set to miss out on Tielemans, as he is set to undergo a medical at Leicester in a move that will see Jardim reunite with Adrien Silva – having worked with the Portugal international at Sporting Lisbon.

It is believed that both Silva and Tielemans will swap clubs on loan until the end of the season, though neither loan deal will include a permanent clause. Monaco are hoping that Tielemans’ value will increase by playing in the Premier League.
