Foot Mercato claim Leicester and Newcastle have opened talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Arnaud Kalimuendo. The attacker has been in superb form for loan side Lens this term, scoring 11 goals in 34 outings.
Kalimuendo, 20, joined Lens on loan in 2020 and has been a crucial part in a side that has overperformed. Looking to avoid relegation at the start of the season, Lens sit in seventh and have an outside chance to reach Europe.
But his second season-long loan at Lens is coming to an end – where he has 19 goals and six assists in 61 games. His contract at PSG ends in 2024. PSG are keen to extend his contract, but the French ace has interest.
Indeed, Leicester and Newcastle have opened talks to lure the youngster to the Premier League – though a fee remains unclear for the PSG talent. It is believed Kalimuendo will stage talks with PSG regarding his future soon.
Newcastle, Leicester eye Kalimuendo: It depends on the price
The striker, who can play out wide too, has been excellent in a brilliantly entertaining Lens side that have defied expectation. To produce 25 goal involvements in 61 games is impressive, especially given he is just 20.
Shining in the top flight and belonging to a club that hardly need the money, Kalimuendo could cost a pretty penny. But with his first-team chances small at PSG – he will surely want to move on this summer.
Should Leicester and Newcastle be quoted a figure in the region of £15million, then it is definitely a deal worth considering.
