Liverpool reportedly struck a £500,000 a deal to sign Celtic starlet Ben Doak ahead of the summer window – and 90Min report that Newcastle, Everton and Leeds are among the clubs to have missed out to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Doak, 16, has made his senior debut for Celtic this season – playing twice in the Scottish Premiership as Ange Postecoglou continues to blood a number of young Hoops stars. But Doak has chosen to move south, to Anfield.
It is believed Liverpool have paid a fee of £500,000 to get the wonderkid, a player Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou described as: “A fantastic kid who comes from a good family. He looked really composed for his age.”
The report states that Liverpool were not the only Premier League club in for the seven-time Scotland Under-17 international. Newcastle and Everton also wanted him, as did Leeds. But a move to Liverpool has won Doak over.

Everton have blooded a number of young players of late – Anthony Gordon being the one that catches the eye. Jarrod Branthwaite and Lewis Dobbin, too. Frank Lampard has a track record of giving younger stars a chance.
He did so at Chelsea, albeit forced to. At Derby, a number of young players impressed under him. Everton’s pathway into the first team would have been less crammed, as would Newcastle – though that could change.
Leeds would have given him a real chance of senior football. Liverpool do have a faith in youth and in a couple of years time, who knows. But perhaps Leeds or Everton would have seen him accelerate his chances.
