Newcastle and Everton have been accredited with an interest in the Besiktas captain.
Turkish outlet Fotomac claim Newcastle United and Everton target Oguzhan Ozyakup is set to put pen to paper on fresh terms with Besiktas – but the two Premier League sides could still sign him this summer.
The 25-year-old, who captains Besiktas and wears the number 10 shirt, currently has less than three months to run on his contract with the Turkish champions.
However, it is reported that he will be offered a new deal in order to keep him at the Vodafone Arena for the foreseeable future. Arsenal are also said to be interested in the Turkey international’s services, after selling him in 2012.
But all interested parties, which includes a handful of Serie A sides, could still sign the technically-gifted midfielder this summer as the Turkish giants are to include a £10.5million release clause in his new deal.
Ozyakup’s form in recent seasons suggests he is a player of the kind of calibre that is worth more than the eight-figure sum, which could mean that Besiktas may be offering the midfielder a new deal just to earn some money from his departure.
Such a fee would be more than affordable for Everton who have splashed out big bucks on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Gylfi Sigurdsson. But at Newcastle, it remains to be seen whether owner Mike Ashley will be splashing the cash this summer.
