Report: Newcastle and Everton among sides monitoring Marcus Thuram

Newcastle United and Everton reportedly want striker Marcus Thuram.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Newcastle and Everton are amongst eight Premier League sides interested in signing Marcus Thuram during the final days of the January transfer window.

Thuram has enjoyed an excellent season in France, scoring seven goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances for Guingamp. Unsurprisingly, his form is attracting attention.

TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal want to sign the 21-year-old, but Newcastle and Everton are also keen on Thuram – as are five of their top flight rivals.

The report names Brighton, Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Watford as the other sides interested in signing the starlet, who is the son of former World Cup winner Lillian Thuram.

Thuram has arguably played his best football this season on the left of the forward line, so it is probably not a huge surprise that the Magpies are keen on a potential deal for the prospect.

Kenedy has not been able to rediscover the form that he showed last year, and Rafa Benitez may be hoping that Thuram can provide a greater threat if he arrived at St James’ Park.

Meanwhile, Everton supporters may perhaps prefer to see their side look at a target whose best position is a central striker, with Marco Silva already boasting a lot of attacking players who can play in the three that sit just off the front man.
