Newcastle United are reportedly ‘among the favourites’ to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

German outlet SportBILD, via Sport Witness, say the Magpies are ‘attacking again’ for the 23-year-old.

Newcastle have enjoyed an outstanding season and will look to build on their great work in the summer.

The Magpies are reportedly looking to add dynamism to their attack from the wide areas.

And Diaby is, in Foot The Ball‘s words, ‘one of the brightest players across Europe’ right now.

The Frenchman has registered 13 goals and nine assists from 37 Leverkusen outings this term.

Newcastle apparently wanted to sign Diaby in the January transfer window.

At the time, Leverkusen were not willing to do a deal.

It was a good call for the Bundesliga side, as Diaby’s continued heroics have been good for the team and his value.

And according to SportBILD, Newcastle have been watching from afar.

As Anthony Gordon has ‘failed’ to impress so far, the Magpies are now ‘attacking’ for Diaby once again.

Newcastle’s owners are willing to continue backing Eddie Howe and will do so again to get the Leverkusen ace.

Indeed, it’s made clear that it ‘won’t fail because of money’, suggesting the ball will be in Diaby’s court.

German journalist Patrick Berger, via football.london, previously claimed Diaby would cost £68million plus bonuses.

Our view

Diaby is an absolutely outstanding player, who boasts plenty of qualities including his pace and dribbling.

According to the Bundesliga’s official website last year, Diaby has ‘the capability to shatter land speed records’.

Newcastle will surely fancy their chances of bringing him to St James’ Park if they quality for the Champions League.
