Newcastle United could already have suffered a fitness blow, as five first-team players currently face doubts over their availability for the first game back, according to the Chronicle.
Newcastle are in action against Sheffield United upon the return of the Premier League in just over a week’s time.
The hope was that Newcastle would have a full squad to pick from for that fixture after the break.
However, Steve Bruce’s side are actually already struggling with injury.

Sean Longstaff has a knock, Matty Longstaff may not be able to play, and there are reportedly questions over the fitness of Andy Carroll, Ciaran Clark and Dwight Gayle.
While none of the quintet are guaranteed starters for Newcastle, if they all are to miss out then Steve Bruce will have a lack of depth available to him.
And Newcastle will be hoping that they can nurse their players back to full health in the coming week, so Bruce can have the luxury of having a full squad to pick from.
