According to The Mirror, Newcastle United will rekindle their interest in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn this summer.

The Magpies picked up another point in their quest for the Championship title on Tuesday night, as they drew 0-0 away at Reading.

Newcastle remain top of the table and look set for promotion, with manager Rafael Bentiez possibly eyeing potential transfer targets should the club return to the Premier League.

Now, The Mirror report that Newcastle are indeed lining up possible moves upon promotion, with Nottingham Forest ace Ben Osborn a top target.

Newcastle raided Nottingham Forest twice in 2014 as goalkeeper Karl Darlow and defender Jamaal Lascelles joined the club, and they appear to be mounting another move for a Forest talent in Osborn.

The midfielder, 22, joined Forest from hometown club and fierce rivals Derby County in 2003 at the age of just nine, and has made his way up through the ranks at the City Ground.

Osborn, a left midfielder who can also play centrally, has great quality on the ball with his left foot, and is working his way towards 150 first-team appearances for Forest.

However, he may not reach that landmark, as Newcastle boss Benitez has lined Osborn up as a top target should the Magpies win promotion, having missed out on a deal in January.

Forest fans won’t want to see yet another top talent leave the club having lost Oliver Burke as well last summer, but a move to reunite with Darlow and Lascelles in the Premier League could be appealing to the Forest youngster, who has hit four goals and five assists this season.
