Newcastle United are reportedly considering a return for Antonio Barreca.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United have returned with new talks for Monaco left back Antonio Barreca after a loan deal for Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku fell through.
The Magpies lost to Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, failing to build on a superb win over Cardiff City in their last Premier League outing.
Such a tepid display again highlighted why Newcastle desperately need new additions, and Rafael Benitez will be working hard to get new faces in.
A deal for Lazio’s Lukaku surprisingly fell through this weekend, meaning Newcastle must head back into the market to find another left back to bring in and compete with Paul Dummett.
The target before Lukaku was Monaco’s Barreca, and The Chronicle report that Newcastle have already re-opened talks with the Ligue 1 side about a deal.
They will hope that this move has no surprise hiccups like the Lukaku situation, with a left back certainly a top need before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Barreca, 23, only joined Monaco from Torino over the summer, but he has struggled for playing time since his move, starting just seven league games.
The Italian has real pace and attacking ability, and having not played for nearly three months, Newcastle should be able to strike a deal with Monaco and finally bring in a new left back.
