Newcastle United are reportedly looking to keep Adam Wilson.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are set to offer a new contract to youngster Adam Wilson – and believe he has a huge future at the club.
The Magpies haven’t had the best success in recent years when it comes to nurturing their homegrown talent, but goalkeeper Freddie Woodman will be looking to buck that trend in the coming years.
Another young player with high hopes in the foreseeable future is Adam Wilson, with the England Under-18 international left back making strides forward in his fledgling career.
It’s now claimed that Newcastle want to offer Wilson a two-year professional contract with the club, and it’s also added that the club see Wilson as being a major talent for the future.
Avoiding another Gibson nightmare
Newcastle will hope that 17-year-old Wilson can kick on and develop once he signs his professional deal, potentially improving to challenge another Magpies youth product at left back in Paul Dummett.
The deal also means that Newcastle are attempting to protect their young talent, given that they lost defender Lewis Gibson to Everton last summer, admittedly for hefty compensation.
Gibson, another left-sided defender, looks set for a major future with Everton and with England, and it’s smart of Newcastle to move to lock down their latest young talent.
