Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are in pole position to sign Arsenal target Timo Werner from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to iNews.
Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Werner from Chelsea this summer, according to a report in Defensa Central last week.
The Spanish news outlet credited Real Madrid and Juventus with interest in the Germany international forward as well.
iNews are now reporting that Newcastle have registered their interest in the 26-year-old, who is “an extremely fast player”, according to comments from Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno in Sky Germany in 2020.
The report has claimed that Newcastle are in pole position to sign Werner if Chelsea decided to sanction a move to a Premier League club.

The Magpies are ready to pay a loan fee and a proportion of Werner’s wages, according to the report.
Newcastle over Arsenal for Timo Werner?
In our view, Chelsea are more likely to send Timo Werner to Newcastle United than to Arsenal, especially if it is a loan deal.
Arsenal will compete with Chelsea for a place in the Premier League top four this season.
So, why would the Blues send a good player such as Werner to the Gunners if they have the option to do a deal with Newcastle?
Now, the big question is whether the German star would be willing to play for a Newcastle side who are unlikely to challenge for major honours or a European spot this season.
