The future of Newcastle United’s Aleksander Mitrovic has been a doubt all January.

Sky Sports claim on their Transfer Centre (Wednesday, 10:00) that Newcastle United striker Aleksander Mitrovic has agreed to rejoin former side Anderlecht on loan until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old powerhouse has been linked with a move away from Newcastle all season after plummeting down the pecking order under Rafa Benitez following the summer signing of Joselu from Stoke City.

A 33-time Serbia international, Mitrovic has managed just 152 minutes of Premier League action for Newcastle this season, spread across six Premier League appearances. He has scored once against West Ham.
The report claims French side Bordeaux and German strugglers Hamburg were also interested in Newcastle’s number 45, while Brighton had a £7million bid rejected last week.

Now, Mitrovic looks set to join Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s Belgian champions on a temporary basis until the end of the season, more than two years after joining the Toon in the summer of 2015.
It remains to be seen if there is a permanent clause included in the move to sign Mitrovic, with his future unlikely to remain with Newcastle. He has a contract at St. James’ Park until 2020.
