Newcastle United look set to complete a deal to sign Martin Dubravka on loan, with a medical due this afternoon.

Rafa Benitez has been linked with a move for the goalkeeper for much of the month. The Chronicle reported earlier in the window that the Magpies had had a loan bid which included the option to buy rejected by the Czech side.

The Mail adds that Dubravka is due to arrive in England later today and undergo a medical ahead of his move to St James’ Park this afternoon with the last few terms still waiting to be agreed.

It may perhaps be a relief for some Newcastle fans if they manage to get a deal for Dubravka across the line. The Magpies have so far only signed Kenedy on loan from Chelsea, so they would have been desperately hoping for a busy deadline day.
A goalkeeper may not have been at the top of most fans’ shopping lists, but Dubravka is an international player with bags of experience, so his arrival – if the loan deal goes through without a problem – will certainly improve the squad heading into the final months of the season.
