Spurs have recently been doing business with the French club.

This month has seen plenty of to-and-fro between Tottenham Hotspur and Marseille over the transfer of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.

Finally, after 40 days of negotiations, Spurs and Marseille announced a deal for the French under-21 international to head to London and for Clinton N’Jie to move to the south of France.

It appears a deal finally got over the line after Marseille’s future was secured – with American Frank McCourt set to become the club’s new owner.

Which brought up another interesting link between the two clubs.

The former LA Dodgers supremo tried to buy Tottenham in 2014, according to reports.

Challenges reports that McCourt met with Daniel Levy and even shook hands over a potential deal.

However, it eventually fell apart, over Levy’s €1 billion valuation of the London club.

Tottenham are of course owned by the ENIC Group, of which Levy is a partner with British billionaire Joe Lewis.

So it seems in another world that McCourt could have been in charge of Tottenham’s finances yesterday as Spurs went in for a Marseille player.

As it happens, McCourt now looks set to become the new Marseille owner.
