Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that he has been informed Scott Parker is being considered by Rangers over a potential move to Ibrox as manager – following successful spells at both Fulham and Bournemouth.
Parker, 42, is out of work after leaving Bournemouth at the beginning of the season. His exit came as a bit of a surprise. While it was after a 9-0 loss to Liverpool, it was due to a disagreement with the club’s owners over a lack of backing.
After all, he had just returned Bournemouth to the Premier League. He was replaced by Gary O’Neil and the coach has since been given the job on a full-time basis. Parker, meanwhile, is waiting for a route back into the game as manager.
Rangers sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday and a whole host of new names have been linked. Michael Beale, Sean Dyche, Gerardo Seoane, Peter Bosz and plenty more. Now, Jones claims Parker is one being considered at Ibrox.

“The only other name I’ve heard really on the back of that is Gerardo Seoane, who’s somebody that they’re interested in. But Hasenhuttl too, and Scott Parker is actually one that I’ve heard,” Jones told GMS, on London-born Parker.
“They’ll aim high, that’ll probably be Beale, and then the others will fall into place, and you’ll start to see who best fits the profile in terms of one getting the fans on board but also getting these players to the level they need to be at.”
Jones: Parker being considered by Rangers over move to Ibrox
Parker would be a brilliant appointment, if inexperienced. He is the kind of manager who exudes class on the touchline and has a particularly-impressive tactical nous. Passion, aggression – coupled with his ability to out-think a manager.
Criticism can be levelled at Parker, too. He was relegated with Fulham before getting them back up, and then going down again. That might be down to the board going over his head in the transfer market. But plenty of potential.
