The Cardiff City boss has twice managed Speroni at Crystal Palace.

Neil Warnock is considering a reunion with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni at Cardiff City, according to a report in Thursday’s Sun newspaper.

Warnock, who twice managed the Argentine at Selhurst Park, is said to be targeting an experienced goalkeeper in January with Bluebirds shot-stopper Ben Amos coming under fire in recent weeks.

Speroni has played just twice for Palace over the past two campaigns and Steve Mandanda’s imminent return from injury could free up the former to leave on loan, with Wales number one Wayne Hennessey also on the books.

Cardiff have also been linked with a move for Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli (also Sun), although the 24-year-old is considerably less experienced than Speroni, who has played just short of 400 times in England’s top two tiers.

The 37-year-old has been with Palace since 2004 and even opened a Mediterranean restaurant in Purley, which recently closed down.

A clue, perhaps, that Speroni, whose contract expires in June, is preparing for life after Selhurst Park.

Would Speroni be a good signing for Cardiff?
