Celtic and Sunderland continue to be linked with John Park.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic boss Neil Lennon is still hoping to bring John Park back to Parkhead despite rival interest from Sunderland.

The Bhoys appointed Lennon as their permanent manager last weekend, handing him the reins on a full-time basis having been interim boss since Brendan Rodgers’ exit in February.

Lennon will now be looking to mould Celtic into his own team, and whilst that will mostly involve incoming and outgoing transfers, it also means staff overhaul.

Recruitment chief Lee Congerton has moved on to Leicester City with Rodgers, meaning Lennon needs to bring in a replacement to oversee Celtic’s transfer business.

A popular name has been Park, and The Scottish Sun claim that Lennon still hopes to bring him back to Parkhead, with Sunderland also interested.

Park has yet to officially commit to joining Sunderland, meaning Lennon is keen to swoop in and bring Park back to Celtic after more than two years away from the club.

Credited with signing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Tom Rogic, Park could be a smart addition to the Celtic setup – but Lennon may have to move quickly to beat Sunderland to him.
