Aston Villa continue to be linked with Brentford’s Neal Maupay.

According to the London Evening Standard, Brentford striker Neal Maupay wants a move to the Premier League this summer over heading to France, Germany or Italy.
Maupay, 23, joined Brentford from Saint-Etienne in 2017, and he’s become a fan favourite at Griffin Park with two goal-filled seasons for the Bees.
After scoring 13 goals last term, Maupay took a huge step forward this term, smashing 28 goals in all competitions, emerging as one of the Championship’s top strikers.
The Frenchman is unsurprisingly attracting major interest, but the Standard claim he isn’t pushing for a move away, even though he fancies a move to the Premier League if one materialises.
Maupay has interest from France, Germany and Italy, but he’d stay in England as newly-promoted trio Aston Villa, Norwich City and Sheffield United hover with intent.

Villa allegedly contacted Brentford about a potential deal in January and were quoted a £20million fee, which was too much at the time, but may now fit into Villa’s budget after promotion to the Premier League.
Villa boss Dean Smith managed Maupay at Brentford, and he may believe that Maupay’s desire to play in the Premier League, and their existing relationship, means that Villa can win the race for his signature.
