According to Italian press reports, Manchester United and Napoli will do battle for the signature of Feyenoord full-back Daryl Janmaat.
Daryl Janmaat has announced his intention to leave Feyenoord ahead of next season and it seems there could be an Anglo-Italian battle to snap him up.
The right-sided star, who is also able to play on the left, is tipped for big things and reports in Holland suggest that third-placed Serie A finishers Napoli are hovering.
Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is a known admirer of Janmaat and it is believed that the Spanish tactician had scouts keep a close eye on him throughout last season.
Janmaat’s name also featured in the Daily Mail’s list of reported targets for new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal picked Janmaat in his provisional Holland squad for the World Cup and could use his proximity with the player to put Man United in the lead to sign him.
Janmaat has insisted that he won’t make any decisions on his future until after the World Cup, but Napoli may try and press in a bid to sign him without entering a bidding war, especially as Liverpool and Arsenal have also been linked with him in recent weeks.
