Football Italia reported over the weekend that the Reds have Insigne high on their list of transfer targets, suggesting he could even replace Coutinho if they were backed into selling the Brazilian to Barcelona.

Yet Napoli have no plans to sell their hometown star, despite complex ongoing contract negotiations.

Il Mattino report that Napoli plan to reject any offers from Liverpool which are in the speculated 30 million Euros mark (£26 million).

The newspaper write that Napoli will respond with a resounding ‘no thanks’ to any approach from the Reds.

This would leave Liverpool needing to look to other targets within their price range, or substantially increase their offer in order to bring Napoli to the negotiating table.

Insigne, 25, is an Italian international with 13 caps, who can play on the wing or as a secondary striker.

He is without a goal this season in Serie A but has five assists in his 11 appearances to date.
