The London Evening Standard claim Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier is attracting interest from Serie A giants Napoli this summer, but he is set to ignore a move to Italy and sign a new Spurs contract.
The 27-year-old has starred for Spurs this season, remaining first-choice on the right side of defence following the sale of Kyle Walker despite the signing of Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain.
The former Burnley and Manchester City star made 35 appearances in all competitions and is expected to be an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad as England jet off to Russia.
It is believed that Napoli are interested in the Spurs star, but Tottenham have no desire to sell the defender who is renowned for his impeccable crossing from the right flank.
Indeed, Spurs’ number two is expected to sign a new deal at Spurs, as Harry Kane did on Friday, to extend his stay in north London and increase his £50,000-a-week wages.
Napoli will be forced to look elsewhere for a new right-back, with Trippier seemingly off limits as Mauricio Pochettino prepares his side to fight for the Premier League title after the World Cup.
