According to CalcioNapoli24, Napoli are seeking a big-money deal for PSV striker Donyell Malen who Arsenal once sold for a mere £500,000.

The Dutch youngster has been in fine form this term, netting 16 goals in 25 games.

Malen’s impressive performances have attracted top European clubs. Calciomercato claim Juventus are keen, while Arsenal have also been linked (the Mirror).

But the latest club to show a strong interest is Napoli.

CalcioNapoli claim Gennaro Gattuso’s side are willing to pay around £35 million for the striker while winger Hirving Lozano could be sold to raise funds.

Malen, 21, is extremely quick and powerful despite his 5ft 10inch frame.

Arsenal predominantly used the four-capped Holland international in a wide role during limited appearances at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger sold him for a bargain fee. With hindsight, it was a big error.

The Gunners could be forced to look for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. The Gabon striker’s contract expires in 2021. Cashing in on him makes sense.

Malen would have been an ideal replacement. But the Premier League club would look foolish now to spend big sums on a player they let go so cheaply.

Moreover, for such a fee, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would be better off strengthening more important areas such as the defence.
