According to a report from The Independent, Napoli are confident of sealing a deal to sign Kieran Trippier this summer, with the Serie A side hoping to pay around £25 million for the Tottenham defender.

Trippier’s future appears to have a major question mark lingering over it after a tough season at Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have a Champions League final to look forward to, and it seems probable that the right-back will start in Madrid, but there can surely be no question that he has struggled to reproduce the form that saw him enjoy an outstanding 2017/18 campaign for club and country.

And it appears that it could be entirely possible that the Champions League final could prove to be his final appearance for Spurs.

The Independent reports that Napoli are in pole position to sign the former Burnley man, and the Serie A outfit are confident that they can get a deal done for around £25 million.

With the 28-year-old struggling to produce the kind of form that sent the country into a frenzy last year, it looks like it could be a very good piece of business from Tottenham to land such a fee for Trippier.

Replacing him is going to be difficult, and Pochettino surely cannot allow the window to close without a new signing coming in. But with £25 million reportedly set to be put on the table, there is a real opportunity for Spurs to get some very shrewd business done in that area of the pitch.
