Leeds United are reportedly hoping to get round the negotiating table over the coming weeks and agree new contracts with a handful of stars.
The Whites have been very proactive with contracts since the start of last season, with the fans getting used to seeing a number of first-team stars extending their terms at Elland Road in a short space of time.
That has largely meant that most contract speculation has had little place at Elland Road in recent months. But Leeds are now planning to get back round the negotiating table in the near future, with Kemar Roofe’s deal reportedly the priority.
However, the Yorkshire Evening Post adds that talks with Saiz and Peacock-Farrell are also on the agenda for the turn of the year. Peacock-Farrell’s deal expires in 2020 and he is in line for a deal that is much more reflective of his prominent role under Marcelo Bielsa.
Meanwhile, Saiz has an additional year on his deal, but the Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that Leeds are looking to reward the Spanish magician, who did not feature in Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s win at Wigan at the weekend.
The report adds that Mateusz Klich joins Peacock-Farrell in having a deal that expires at the end of next season. But the Poland international’s future poses less of an issue with Leeds able to trigger an option that will extend the contract until 2021.
After a number of disappointing outcomes in the contract sagas that plagued the club during much of the Massimo Cellino era and – in Charlie Taylor’s and Chris Wood’s cases – the early stages of Andrea Radrizzani’s tenure, it will please many Leeds fans that the club look set to remain proactive and keep the good feeling going.
