Report names three players Sunderland want to sell in January

Sunderland are in the midst of a concerning decline, and currently sit in 23rd position in the Championship table.

A report from the Northern Echo this morning has named three players who the Black Cats will try and offload this winter, if owner Ellis Short is unsuccessful in his attempts to sell the club before the January transfer window opens.

Sunderland have really struggled in the Championship this season, and are currently deeply entrenched in a relegation battle, sitting second from bottom in the table, after a paltry return of just seven points from 11 league outing thus far.

Simon Grayson’s task in charge of the Wearside outfit has been made all the harder by the limited funds which have been made available to him with which to improve upon the current squad at the Stadium of Light.

And things could get even worse at Sunderland, with the Northern Echo claiming that they are ready to sanction the sales of Jack Rodwell, Lamine Kone and Didier Ndong in January, if Ellis Short has not sold the club by the start of the winter transfer window.

None of the names mentioned have performed particularly well for the Black Cats, but the fact that Grayson’s squad would be diminished dramatically from a numbers perspective would be a major concern for both him and the fans, what with such a long and physically punishing campaign ahead of them.
