Steve Hitchen is urging Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to appoint Mauricio Pochettino, the Daily Mail say.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with the PSG boss in recent times, with Spurs said to have entered talks with him in the last 48 hours.

There is real belief that Pochettino could make a sensational return to North London now.

And Hitchen is said to be firmly on the side of appointing the 49-year-old boss now.

Whether Levy will listen to his director of football at Spurs remains to be seen, though.

It seems that Tottenham do have other potential candidates to go after as they seek a new manager.

But Pochettino is the leading option right now, as Spurs get closer and closer to finding their replacement for Jose Mourinho.

Hitchen’s redemption

Tottenham have been accused of not spending enough, but big fees have been invested in the likes of Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

It’s fair to say that none of that trio have really lived up to their price-tags so far.

But if Hitchen could be the driving force behind getting Pochettino back, then he may well win some supporters around.

Pochettino was hugely popular around Tottenham during his first stint at the club, and his return would be widely celebrated by supporters.
