The prolific striker is said to be attracting Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers, but could cost the Ibrox side more than £5 million.

Glasgow Rangers are the Scottish side interested in signing Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott, according to Sky Sports.
The Ibrox side, who hired Steven Gerrard as manager this week, are one of three clubs said to be keen on Marriott, along with Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest.

Marriott scored 33 goals in his first season at London Road, and was claimed by manager Steve Evans this week to have attracted one club from north of the border – which now appears to be Rangers.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed last month, however, that the 23-year-old will cost would-be buyers in excess of £5 million – which could be a stumbling block for Rangers, whose financial problems are well documented.
According to Transfermarkt, the Gers last broke the £5 million barrier to re-sign Barry Ferguson 13 years ago.
Rangers chairman revealed earlier this week, however, that he expects to raise £6 million via a share issue, prompting one of the Ibrox side’s biggest detractors, Chris Sutton, to speculate that Gerrard will have more than that to spend on signings this summer.
