The Northern Irishman has made just one signing since taking over at the Scottish Premiership side.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
A report in The Scottish Sun has claimed that Brendan Rodgers has made signing a new centre-back a priority after Celtic’s humiliating loss to Lincoln Red Imps.
The Hoops go into the second-leg of their Champions League second qualifying round tie looking to overturn a one-goal deficit after a shock defeat in Gibraltar.
Celtic’s Efe Ambrose was hugely disappointing in Gibraltar
And while few members of the squad have escaped serious criticism following the loss in Rodgers’ first competitive game in charge, it is Efe Ambrose that has taken the brunt of the scrutiny after his performance.
And the Nigerian’s display appears to have been met with a similar level of disdain from his manager as The Scottish Sun now claims that bolstering his options at the heart of defence has become something that he wishes to address urgently.

If Rodgers does manage to add some more depth in that area, then the defeat to Lincoln may ultimately prove to be a blessing in disguise if the Bhoys turn the game around in the second-leg.
The defeat to a team of Lincoln’s stature confirmed that Rodgers really has no choice but to make changes if he hopes to lead the side to success.
Erik Sviatchenko also started at centre-back against Lincoln Red Imps
While Erik Sviatchenko was impressive at times last season, his performance alongside Ambrose on Tuesday showed just how important Charlie Mulgrew’s presence was to the Dane’s form.
Meanwhile, Jozo Simunovic may arguably be the best centre-back in the squad, but his battles with various injuries means that he cannot be relied upon to cement himself as a regular.
And with the penny dropping now, as opposed to in a few weeks time when the season is really underway, Rodgers has enough time to make the kind of addition that should ensure that such defeats never happen again.
