Leeds United are interested in moving for Graham Potter as their new manager – if they stay in the Premier League.

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is on the Leeds United radar as they consider life after Sam Allardyce.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Leeds would be keen to ‘engage’ somebody like Potter this summer.

However, that is dependent on Leeds staying up – and that’s far from a guarantee right now.

Leeds sit second-bottom of the Premier League table and need everything to go their way on the final day of the season.

Leeds would need to beat Tottenham Hotspur and hope that both Everton and Leicester City lose.

That’s a big ask for Sam Allardyce, who hasn’t yet been able to turn Leeds around following his shock appointment.

Leeds may well have two separate managerial lists; one for if they stay up and one for if they go down.

Potter seems to be a target if they stay up but even that feels like something of a long shot.

Graham Potter seeking to rebuild his reputation

Potter’s next job will be absolutely fascinating.

The Englishman was a hot property at Brighton and Hove Albion, sparking his September move to Chelsea amid ‘exceptional’ praise from Pep Guardiola.

That move was a disaster from minute one though and it was little surprise that he didn’t make it to the summer.

There will now be two schools of thought, one being that Potter was just the wrong man for the job and he has still proven his quality with Brighton.

The other is that Potter isn’t right for a job with big expectations, whilst some will point to how Brighton have even improved since his exit.

We can imagine that a number of Premier League clubs will be keen on Potter and Leeds – even if they stay up – will have to prove that they can help Potter get back on track rather than give him another troublesome job.
