The Southampton man is one of the Premier League’s most sought-after defenders it seems.
A report in the Daily Record has suggested that Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk currently prefers the idea of joining Manchester City despite Premier League leaders Chelsea also registering an interest in the Dutchman.

Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk
That has left the former Celtic man with a potentially difficult decision to make. The Record reports that he looks destined to leave St Mary’s by the summer, and it appears that he has made a decision on where he would prefer to go.
According to the Record, van Dijk would rather move to the Etihad to work with Pep Guardiola rather than head to Stamford Bridge.

Based on what he has shown during his time on the south coast, it is not that surprising to see the Citizens keen on making a move for the 25-year-old.
His ability on the ball is arguably as strong as his defensive capabilities, and that perhaps may enable him to adapt to Guardiola’s philosophy quite quickly.
