Report: Naby Keita will have to force through move to Liverpool now

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been chasing Naby Keita for much of the summer.

According to a report in the Guardian, Naby Keita will have to force through a move if he is to switch to Liverpool this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring Keita to Anfield, but his efforts so far have proven fruitless.

Red Bull Leipzig are determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old, and even though Liverpool are prepared to break their transfer record to bring the midfielder to Merseyside, the German side are not thought to be willing to entertain offers.

Keita played a key role for Leipzig last season, as he helped them qualify for the Champions League.

And the cash-rich side are not going to buckle, despite Liverpool’s interest.

Any deal now looks unlikely, unless Keita makes it clear that he wants to join Liverpool.

The Liverpool Echo have previously suggested that Leipzig are looking for £70 million for Keita, but the latest news is that even that offer may not be enough as things stand.

It means that the ball is now firmly in Keita’s court, and if he wants to move to Liverpool this summer, the Guinean international will have to make it happen himself.
