Naby Keita elected against being in Liverpool’s squad on Saturday, according to a report.

The Echo has reported that Naby Keita made the decision to withdraw from Liverpool’s squad on Saturday.
Keita made his comeback from injury in the League Cup win over MK Dons in midweek and he was expected to make the trip to Yorkshire for the Reds’ Premier League clash with Sheffield United.
But he was omitted by manager Jurgen Klopp and, according to The Echo, the Liverpool midfielder himself chose to stay behind at Melwood and improve on his fitness.
Keita has had a difficult time of it in terms of injury over the past five months or so, starting in the Champions League semi-final defeat at Barcelona in May.
Since then, the Guinea international missed the Champions League final win over Tottenham a month later and picked up another injury at the Africa Cup of Nations.
He returned in Liverpool’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City in August, but hadn’t been seen since the win over MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.
Klopp’s side beat Sheffield United 1-0 yesterday, so staying behind was proven to be an okay decision.
At this stage, it’s important that he’s 100 percent fit and if Keita felt that facing the Blades might’ve resulted in another setback, sitting out the trip is understandable.
