Lazio have emerged as contenders to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, report The Sun.
The paper claim the Serie A side have made an enquiry to take Bentaleb on a season long loan.
Tottenham’s Nabil Bentaleb
Bentaleb is just 21 and is a highly regarded prospect, but has fallen out of favour under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
He barely played last season and is well down the pecking order in midfield, with Victor Wanyama signed this summer to essentially take his place in the squad.
The Algerian was left out of the club’s pre-season tour, and is expected to leave before the transfer window closes.
Spurs did allow Federico Fazio to leave on loan, but Bentaleb is in a different situation, as he is a young talent who could potentially be worth more than £10 million. At Daniel Levy’s prices, far more.
So Tottenham will have to decide whether to simply move him on loan this summer and retain his rights, hoping his transfer value increases further over the next year, or tell Lazio their offer is not required – and to return with a permanent bid.
